Finally, after what seemed a long, long wait, the film of the book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society has been shown in the island.  If you're impressed by the film then drop by Sula Gallery and ask to see some of my prints of the island.  They will remind you of places mentioned in the book (and film), and of what happened so long ago, when my father and his family had to endure the occupation.  Not to mention my mother, who at the age of twelve had to leave the island for five long years.

My understanding is that the film of the book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society is being premiered in April. Many of the locations in the book have been depicted by me in pen and ink or acrylic, coincidentally because I have been all over the island drawing and painting for a number of years.  It's inevitable that any book that takes place on the island would mention a location that I have already rendered. So, if you liked the book, you might like to be reminded of it with a picture. Drop by Sula Gallery and ask to see one or two. Or, simply drop by the Ship and Crown pub in St. Peter Port and look for my picture on the wall. I hope the film is as entertaining as the book; we'll soon know.

Loophole tower number 9 to be exact. It's sometimes incorrectly called a martello tower, but actually it's one of 15 that were build to defend against a possible French invasion in the late 18th century. My painting was done from a photo I took while standing on the sandy path looking back towards L'Ancresse Golf Club and the self catering apartments. The painting is one of a series that have a very active sky. The sandy path is indeed sand, as I mixed sand into the paint. I'll post a picture soon with purchase details.

Some limited edition prints of my High Street St. Peter Port painting have arrived at Sula Gallery.  Look for an example to be on the wall shortly.  Perfect for that unique Christmas gift for someone who appreciates art.

It's that time of year when prints are needed for Christmas sales.  I will approach my favourite printer, who creates beautiful prints of my paintings that match the original colours 100%.

This one is a bit different. I've added sand to the paint to give a bit of realism to a sandy path that leads into the picture. Hope the idea works. It does look good when a light is refracted off the sandy bits. The painting should be ready in a few days - then we'll really know if it worked, or not.

A friend suggested that my abstract landscapes look a lot like his photographs of space nebulae. It's a great simile. The paintings swirl, especially the representations of the sky. I like the impression of movement you get when you think of space, so from now on I'm calling these paintings Landscape Nebulae. Thank you James.

A nice visit to Guernsey as usual. Sold one of my boat pictures through Sula Gallery. Thanks to Hayley and Graham as usual. Their gallery looks fabulous, so drop by for a visit and please ask to see my work.

See you in the island the last half of June. Happens to be my mother's 90th birthday.

They have started the film version of the book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a book that has inspired a number of my pen and ink drawings. In fact, the drawings are available at Sula Gallery in Guernsey. Interestingly, the filming is being done in England, as apparently Guernsey is too expensive (or perhaps the logistics are just harder). In any case, do check out my gallery of Guernsey drawings and drop into Sula should you find yourself in the island. I'll be there myself mid-June.
