Delivered a portrait of my father to my mother, who lives overseas; quite a surprise. I'm very glad she liked the result (phew!). It now has pride of place beside the portrait that I painted of her a few years back. I didn't realize when I chose the source photo that it had been taken at the same time as the photo I used for my mother's painting.
Finally finished a portrait of a couple of really cute kids. I've got to admit that it was a bit of a chore wrapping it as a Christmas present, but hopefully everyone thinks it was worth the effort. I loved the look on the parents' faces when it was unwrapped. I hope everyone had just as good a holiday as me.
It's been a long time coming but there are a number of new pieces are on their way soon. A couple of portraits and a landscape are nearing completion. As well, I hope to do a few more pen and ink pictures over the next couple of months. Love those black and whites! Thanks for your patience.
Doing some illustrations for an upcoming Canadian book about an animal activist and her experiences fighting the seal hunt. I will provide some links as soon as the book is published.
In the meantime I have delivered some prints to Sula Gallery in Guernsey and visited Mike at the Quay Gallery to see what is happening artistically in that part of the world. Expect some new paintings and prints very soon.
Had to spend quite a bit of time painting - walls that is. Just rejuvinated my townhouse, including painting from top to bottom. Unfortunately there was only time to paint walls, not pictures. Now that it's finished - and the townhouse is sold (in 4 days!) - it's time to get back to my real work. A number of pictures have been requested by one of my favourite galleries. More news later.
Dropped off a new painting at Sula Gallery. This one is called St. Peter Port Boats #2. Yes, another boat picture. See it in the Boats and All Things Nautical gallery on this website. Better yet, drop by the gallery at Les Vauxbelets.
Upon my return to Guelph I'm going to start something new for me - an abstract. This one is going to echo my extreme distaste for a new development in Guelph that is destroying a wet land, a green space, and a home for wildlife. Google my name and The Guelph Mercury and you should be able to find the column I wrote for that paper regarding this development.
Drop by Sula Gallery, right by the most popular tourist attraction in Guernsey, the Little Chapel at Blanchelande Girls College (Les Vauxbelets). Either Hayley or Graham will be pleased to show you the painting.
Just like Whistler, the portrait of my mother is completed and delivered to the subject matter herself. Hope she likes it! You can see it in the 'Others' gallery.
Finally put the finishing touches to this painting. I confirmed with the experts (aka locals) the actual location of the view, seeing as I couldn't remember where I took the original series of photos that I combined to create the painting. I happened to be on a rocking boat at the time. The view is of the moorings as you round the point into Fermain Bay.
The painting is being delivered to the gallery so it should be ready for viewing at Sula Gallery by the beginning of December.
